ICPKL to bridge community with plight faced by Palestinian prisoners
SHAH ALAM - International Conference on Palestine Kuala Lumpur (ICPKL) is an international conference to help bridge the international community with Palestinian prisoners.
Palestinian Cultural Organisational Malaysia (PCOM) president Muslim Imran said ICPKL is a very important conference in creating awareness and conveying information about Palestinians to the larger community in Asia.
"Not only Malaysians are very supportive but also the government has always understood the Palestinian struggles," he told Sinar Daily.
Muslim, who is also the Asia Middle East Center for Research and Dialogue (AMEC) believed this conference would build a big opportunity to reach the international community specifically in South East Asia.
"It will have two roles, firstly, to be a strong advocate of Palestinians' struggles among the public, non-profit organisations (NGOs), political groups, and the government, who always contribute through humanitarian and advocacy efforts.
Meanwhile, the second role is to be a regional platform that will reach a larger audience called "diversity."
Muslim also hope this conference will improve networks among NGOs and service societies within Malaysia and across Asia.
The ICPKL is a conference that aims to create awareness about the injustices faced by Palestinians in Israeli prisons.
There are expected to be 500 international and local delegates attending the conference at the Royal Chulan Hotel in Seremban from Feb 10 to 12.
During this conference, the organisers will be raising funds to support 20 Palestinian prisoners’ families for one year.
