SHAH ALAM - Former Umno supreme council member Datuk Zahidi Zainul Abidin believed it was the prerogative of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to consider and decide that Nurul Izzah is the best fit for the role of senior advisor on economic and finance matters.
The ex-Umno was upbeat about Anwar's controversial decision to appoint his daughter, which was deemed nepotism.
"The Prime Minister had engaged with a lot of individuals with the knowledge and skills related to the position, but maybe he figured that his daughter was the best.
"Maybe he saw opportunities for discussions at home. Maybe there is good in it, so let's see first if this can benefit the people and the country.
Following the announcement of Malaysia’s 2022 score on the corruption perception index, which continued to decline, Sinar Daily's Politically Frank segment drew out Zahidi's prediction for this year’s performance.
