In the 5.30pm incident, the 53-year-old victim suffered severe injuries, while the 51-year-old brother suffered minor injuries.

Kota Marudu District Police Chief Superintendent Zairolnizal Ishak said one of the victims' wives had filed the report.

He said in the report it was stated that her husband and brother-in-law were attacked by a crocodile and suffered injuries.

"Investigations found the husband and his brother had gone towards the river to install a water pump.
