SHAH ALAM - Selangor Pas says no offers were made to the former Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin to be a candidate or for the menteri besar post if he wins in the state election.

Selangor Pas Secretary Roslan Shahir Mohd Shahir said there were no discussions or offers made to Khairy to join the party currently.

"No specific offers were made, but we have opened our doors for them (those sacked and suspended by Umno) to join Pas," he said when contacted by Sinar Harian on Tuesday.

Roslan Shahir said they were currently accepting some Umno members who wanted to join Pas.

"Pas will have a branch level meeting throughout the states, and we have no specific figures, but it could be estimated that around hundreds of Umno members will join Pas.

"We accepted the entry of the former Sabak Bernam Umno deputy chief who joined Pas, and we have appointed him to the same position," he said.

He said Umno members were disappointed with the party's internal issues, especially after the recent Umno cleanse.

"The wave of those joining Pas were increasing in Malay majority areas," he explained.

Sinar Harian on Monday reported Khairy stating his interest to contest in the Selangor state election and said he has received several offers including the position of menteri besar if he won.
