Arrested for accepting bribes in exchange for altering urine test results

JOHOR BAHRU - The Segamat Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) branch had arrested a medical laboratory employee today, on the suspicion of soliciting and accepting bribes amounting to approximately RM20,000.

According to the source, the 51-year-old man was arrested at the Johor Bahru MACC office here at 8.30am after he came to give a statement.

It is understood that the suspect, who worked in a medical laboratory at a government hospital, has requested and received bribe money from people who went for drug testing.

He accepted the bribes in exchange for altering the test results.

Johor MACC Director Datuk Azmi Alias confirmed the arrest, and when contacted said the case is being investigated under Section 17 (a) of the MACC Act 2009.

The suspect will be taken to Magistrate's Court here at 9am on Wednesday to receive a remand order.
