Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said, on behalf of the government and the people of Malaysia, he expressed sympathy and condolences to the victims and their families, and all affected by the disaster.
"May Allah grant recovery to the victims and peace to those grieving," he said in a Facebook post on Monday.
Yesterday, the media reported that an earthquake measuring 7.6 on the Richter scale had struck southern Turkey at Kahramanmaras at 4.17am.
The Turkey Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (Afad) informed that the earthquake has also affected the Pazarcik district.
A total of 912 lives were lost and another 476 deaths were recorded in Syria after a earthquake hit southern Turkey near Gaziantep city
According to Foreign Affairs Ministry, there has been no report of any Malaysians affected by the disaster.
