No decision made on accepting ex-Umno leaders into PKR - Anwar
PETALING JAYA - The decision to accept former Umno members into PKR has not been made, says PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
He claimed that although the party leadership had taken note of the stories published in the media but discussions are yet to take place.
“We haven’t made any decision. We take note of the fact that some ex-Umno members expressed their intention to join. We will discuss with the Umno leaders in due course,” the prime minister said at a press conference held today at the PKR headquarters, here.
After being expelled from Umno, some former Umno leaders had declared their intention to join PKR.
Previously, former Umno youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin and former Selangor Umno chief Tan Sri Noh Omar were sacked from the party, while Sembrong MP Datuk Seri Hishammudin Hussein was suspended.
Among other members who have been suspended from the party for six years were former Umno Deputy Youth Chief Shahril Hamdan, Umno Youth Exco Fathul Bari Mat Jahya, former Jempol MP Salim Mohd Sharif and former Johor State Exco Maulizan Bujang.
