Durians for only RM4.99 per pack under Menu Rahmah initiative

A durian seller at Jalan Kebun here, who has a stall called 'Durians Atok' took the initiative to sell the fruit for only RM4.99 a pack.
According to his update on Facebook, 50 packs were successfully sold in just 10 minutes.
"Just now, I sold my durian under the Menu Rahmah initiative as a response to the call by the government to provide affordable food,50 packs were sold in just 10 minutes.
"God willing, this weekend ( Saturday 3pm) I will sell more," he said on Friday.
On Jan 27, the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub said the government would introduce the Rahmah Menu which is a meal priced at RM5 or below aimed to help the less fortunate to get their meals.
Salahuddin added that the menu including rice, chicken or fish and vegetables would be implemented after the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Malaysian Indian Restaurant Entrepreneurs Association and the Malaysian Tomyam Entrepreneurs Association next week.
The menu was sparked through an engagement session between KPDN and industry players to find the best way to deal with the issue of food price increase in a 'win-win' situation to reduce the operating costs and offer a reasonable prices to customers.
As of Jan 31st , more than 15,000 restaurants have offered meals under the Rahmah Menu initiative to ensure that the B40 group in particular can afford to buy food at restaurants at a reasonable price.
