Johari Abdul son's name altered on Parliament website ?
SHAH ALAM - Checks by Sinar Daily have found that the name of Dewan Rakyat speaker Johari Abdul's son is now incomplete on the parliament website.
The full name of his son Iqbal Johari can be found by searching on search engines, but the official parliament website only states the name as Mohammed Iqbal.
It was believed that the name was altered following media reports highlighting Johari had appointed his own son as his special task officer.
The alteration is out of ordinary as Iqbal's name is not standardised with other officers portrayed on the website.
The usual practices for Muslim governmemt officers is, their names will be written in full with Bin/Binti included while non-muslims will include their surnames.
Bin or Binti in a Muslim name usually denotes you are the son or daughter of so and so.
It reports today Johari denied that his son was given any official government position, saying that Iqbal has been his officer since 14 years ago.
He also explained that he was the one paying Iqbal's salary so the matter should not be a big issue.
The issue of nepotism has been the talk of town ever since it was revealed on Sunday that Nurul Izzah has been appointed as a Senior Economic and Financial Advisor to the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
Through her interview with The Star, the former Permatang Pauh MP said that her appointment had effectively started on Jan 3.
