KUALA LUMPUR - Former Umno information chief Shahril Hamdan has expressed his hope that the unity government will be able to stabilise the nation's economy.

"This is what the rakyat would like to see, for the time being I can see not only in Malaysia, but the whole world is facing an economic crisis.

"It is however a positive thing that everyone is focused on the economy." Shahril said during the Sinar Live programme.

Shahril said he feels that the unity government has a line up that the people are currently relying on.

"I hope that they do not instill false hope in the rakyat," he said

Speaking on his next move after being suspended by Umno, Shahril commented that he will release a series of videos on finance and economy topics.

“For my future plan, I will release videos of views that are hopefully more balanced and challenge people's thinking about the economy,” he added.

Shahril was among the 42 Umno members who were suspended for six years after the Umno supreme council meeting on January 27 (Friday).
