KUANTAN - Pahang Parti Pribumi Bersatu (Bersatu) bank account is not frozen and is still active, said Bersatu Pahang deputy chief Mohd Yazid Mohd Yunus.

He explained that all activities and operations of the party at the division level are ongoing as usual.

"Everything is normal, and our bank account is still active. I'm not sure about others, but Pahang Bersatu's account has no issue.

"I can only speak for Pahang, as I'm not sure of the situation in other states," he said when contacted on Wednesday.

Earlier, local news reported that Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki confirmed that Bersatu's account was frozen.

He said the party's account was frozen over two weeks ago to assist in an investigation under the Anti-Money Laundering and Anti-Terrorism Financing Act.

Mohd Yazid, who is also a Lepar state assembly member, did not deny the allegation that the freezing of the party's account may be related to the upcoming state election.

He said various assumptions can be drawn, but Bersatu members' spirits are slightly affected after learning about this.

Meanwhile, Pahang Bersatu Education Bureau Chairman Datuk Jasri Jamaludin informed that Bersatu had released the 2020 Bersatu Party Audit Report for the public to evaluate.

The Kuala Sentul assemblyman said the report showed no elements of corruption as reported and was well received by the Registrar of Societies (RoS).
