SHAH ALAM - Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) has yet to officially invite former Rembau parliament member Khairy Jamaluddin to join the party.

Bersatu deputy president Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu said Khairy is better off in Perikatan Nasional (PN) as he is a talented politician with a bright future to lead the country one day.

"We have spoken, but there has been no serious discussion. It is also known from the media that Khairy is taking time to decide.

"He has many options at hand to think about and decide. I'm confident that he will make the best decision when the time is right," he said to Sinar Harian on Wed.

Last week, Khairy was sacked from Umno; another Umno veteran who was sacked was former Selangor Umno chief Tan Sri Noh Omar.

The decision to terminate was based on allegations that they were involved in sabotaging the party during the 15th General Election (GE15) campaign.

Ahmad Faizal also claimed that many Umno supporters have left the party and have applied to become Bersatu members.

He sympathised with the uncalled for termination and suspension of Umno members and said democracy doesn't exist in Umno.

"I hate to involve myself in other people's affairs, but democracy in Umno no longer exists, and Umno has become a personal party where the president and grassroot leaders can do as they please.

"With the internal issues happening in Umno, Perikatan Nasional is a better choice and more popular among the sacked members and their supporters," he added.

Ahmad Faizal welcomes whoever wishes to fight alongside Bersatu for the people.
