PETALING JAYA – A man was killed in a fire that broke out at an apartment unit in Flora Damansara here, on Tuesday.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Director Datuk Norazam Khamis said the operations centre received a distress call on the incident at 9.13pm on Tuesday.

"A total of 25 firemen and five engines from Damansara, Kota Anggerik, Sungai Buloh, Section 7 and Puchong fire stations were rushed to the scene," he said in a statement on Wednesday.

The team arrived at the scene at 9.22pm.

"Upon arrival, we found that a unit on the 21st floor of the apartment was about 90 per cent burnt.

"So far, the victim has yet to be identified," he said.

Meanwhile, The Star reported the victim, believed to be in his 30's was found lying near the front door.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid said the body suffered at least 40 per cent burns.

He added that the victim’s skin and clothing samples have been taken to help identify the victim.
