JOHOR BAHRU - Although MIC Youth respects the Umno Supreme Council (MKT) decision to suspend and sack some of its members on Friday, it said the actions could affect Barisan Nasional (BN).

In saying this, National MIC Youth chief K Raven Kumar said the decision was accepted on the basis of BN being a component in the coalition.

The Tenggaroh Assemblyman said he would not want to meddle in Umno's internal affairs because other parties don't have the rights and power to interfere with other parties' affairs.

"All leaders including those subjected to the actions have their merits, calibre and support which will surely impact BN negatively after their removal.

"We can't deny the decision as it represented Umno's decision, and as a BN component, we will respect it. MIC will not interfere in such matters," he said.

The Johor state tourism, environment, heritage, and culture committee chairman told reporters after attending the 'Responsible Tourism Workshop' at a hotel here on Tuesday.

The Umno MKT on Friday sacked two Umno veterans, Tan Sri Noh Omar and Khairy Jamaluddin, for violating party discipline based on the Umno constitution.

It also suspended the membership of former Umno vice president Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein, Tebrau Umno division chief Datuk Maulizan Bujang, former Umno information chief Shahril

Sufian Hamdan, and Jempol Umno division chief Datuk Seri Mohd Salim Sharif.

Raven Kumar urged all BN component party leadership to focus on restoring their image and the general support for the coalition.

He explained that support for BN has been declining since the elections in 2013, 2018, and 2022.

"All party components must go through a reality check and identify their current mistakes to be improved.

"We need to do this right because if the support for BN continues to decline, it will be much more apparent to the youth," he said

He also said Johor MIC Committee member S Deva's statement, which described the leadership under Umno President Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi as "dictatorial," was only a personal view and not the party's stance.
