DBKL orders 44 storey tower project to be halted immediately
Kuala Lumpur Mayor Datuk Seri Mahadi Che Ngah
Kuala Lumpur Mayor Datuk Seri Mahadi Che Ngah said the actions were made following the Ampang Line Light Rail Transit (LRT) service disruption on Friday.
He said DBKL had met with the representatives of the Land Transport Agency (Apad), Prasarana Malaysia Berhad (Prasarana) and several internal DBKL departments on Saturday.
"DBKL released an immediate Stop Work Order to all related development projects.
"This order was to ensure Apad and related agencies could investigate, observe and identify the cause of the recent disruption," he said through a statement on Monday.
Apad previously recommended DBKL to suspend development and limited activities in the railway protection zone immediately following the interruption of the Ampang Line LRT services.
The service disruption occurred due to a bent track near the LRT City Station due to adjacent construction work.
Prasarana took the decision to stop all services between the City Station and Masjid Jamek after
taking into account safety factors.
Mahadi said the project was in its early stages which was the land works outside of zone 1 and 2 (of the protection zone).
He said DBKL through the Local Central Committee Meeting will involve Apad and Prasarana to get all of the relevant agencies views, especially when there was a development application located in or near the railway safety zone.
