SHAH ALAM - Johor Darul Ta'zim Football Club (JDT) owner Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim (TMJ) has described the RM700 million allocated for the reconstruction of the Shah Alam Stadium as illogical.

He said the technology that will be used in the stadium is very sophisticated and requires at least RM2 billion to complete it.

“SSI (Sultan Ibrahim Stadium) is only RM400 million. This stadium (Shah Alam Stadium) will at least cost RM2 billion because of its high-tech features, RM700 million is just illogical." he commented on an Instagram page.

Itwas reported that plans for the redevelopment of the Shah Alam Sports Complex is expected to start within the first quarter of this year.

Previously, Selangor Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari had announced that RM787 million will be allocated to build a new stadium to replace the current Shah Alam Stadium.

The new stadium is expected to accommodate up to 45,000 people and is targeted for completion in 2026.

It will be equipped with an electronic scoreboard, disabled-friendly concourse, as well as corporate boxes.
