SHAH ALAM - Former Umno Youth Chief Khairy Jamaludin says his successor Shahril Hamdan's suspension from Umno was "for nothing".

In an Instagram today, Khairy posted a selfie with Shahril: “This guy should have been the next Umno youth chief. But he was suspended without due process. For nothing."

Shahril meanwhile posted an Instagram post on “facts of his suspension” with a laughing emoji.

Stating he was Umno youth chief and Umno information chief during GE 15 but but resigned a day after general elections on Nov 20.

“It's not that a collective responsibility is not possible but don't go overboard and use the lifeboat to save yourself. Take the ship to the port.

Shahril was among the 42 Umno members who were suspended for six years after the Umno supreme council meeting last night.

While former Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin and former Umno Selangor chief, Tan Sri Noh Omar were sacked in an apparent cleanse of the party's "traitors", Barisan Nasional treasurer-general Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein was suspended for six years.
