SHAH ALAM - Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaacob expressed his disapproval over the decision to axe and suspend several party leaders.

In an instagram post today, Ismail voiced out his displeasure over the move as it was not made in accordance to the party's rules and did not go through the proper processes.

“I do not agree with the decision on dismissal and suspension.

"It was not made in compliance with the legal process of the party, and contradicts the principle of natural justice where one is called upon to defend oneself.

“I was informed by the disciplinary committee that they did not advise the president on the action he took.

“They only informed (Zahid) that there was a report against those accused." he wrote in the instagram post.

This was contrary to the statement made Umno Supreme Council working committee (MKT) member Datuk Puad Zarkashi who said that the decision was made based in the recommendation of the Umno Disciplinary Board.

On Friday, former Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin and former Selangor Umno chief Noh Omar were sacked last for misconduct, mainly going against the party and its leadership during the 15th general election.

The party also suspended former vice-president and Sembrong MP Hishammuddin Hussein, former information chief Shahril Hamdan, Tebrau Umno division leader Maulizan Bujang and former Jempol MP Salim Sharif for six years.

Earlier, Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said he will explain the party’s decision to sack and suspend the leaders soon. He said he will provide an explanation at an event.

“Wait, I will explain. I will do it at an event later,” he had told reporters when approached at an event at Dataran Merdeka.

There are no details as to when Zahid will comment on the recent move
