Three-month old baby found unconscious in nursery, dies
KAJANG - A three-month-old baby boy dies under the care of a nursery in Bandar Baru Bangi, near here, today.
Kajang district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zaid Hassan said the baby received emergency treatment at a private hospital before he was pronounced dead.
“Initial investigation found that the baby was healthy when his mother sent him to the nursery at 7.15am before he was found unconscious by the babysitter at 10.30am.
“Inspections on the victim’s body found no traces of injuries and investigations at the scene found that there were no elements of violence,” he said in a statement today.
He said a police report was lodged at the Bandar Baru Bangi police station at 12.10pm and it was suspected that the cause of the baby’s death was due to negligence.
The nursery has been operating since 2014 and had a valid license from the Selangor Social Welfare Department.
“The body of the baby was sent to the Serdang Hospital forensics department for an autopsy to determine the cause of death,” he said.
The case was being investigated under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001.
Police urged those with any information on the case to contact the Kajang District Police Headquarters (IPD) at 03-89114222 or go to any police stations or contact the investigating officer Inspector Noor Hairul Anuar Shuhaimi at 012-3043034.
