Siti Nurhaliza to perform at AR Rahman concert
SHAH ALAM - The nation is set to witness two legendary singers Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza and Indian superstar AR Rahman sharing the same stage on Jan 28.
Wondering if Siti, who will be the guest performer at AR Rahman's concert on that day, can sing in Tamil?
She won the hearts of many back in 2015 when she sang a Tamil number entitled 'Nenje Ezhu' composed by AR Rahman which means 'Raise Your Spirit' at the Grand Opening of International Superstar.
Accoding to New Straits Times (NST), AR Rahman's 'Secret of Suceess' Live in Malaysia 2023 executive producer Mohd Maideen Abdullah said that Rahman was a fan of Siti and had agreed to have her join him as a local guest artiste.
"It's great to have Malaysia's No.1 singer share the stage with Rahman. Having her in the concert will help boost Malaysian music internationally," he said in an interview with Berita Harian Online yesterday.
NST also reported Mohd Maideen saying that close to 50,000 tickets for the 8pm concert at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil had been sold, and the organiser DMY Creation extended their gratitude to all Rahman fans for their support.
Siti said she didn't think twice when she was offered the chance to perform at the concert.
"I received an email at the beginning of last year from an Indian music legend who is known worldwide for his talent and great work.
"I didn't have to think long about this opportunity, something I've longed for. I'm grateful for the opportunity to work with you, Mr @arrahman," she said in a post on her Instagram account.
The Indian music composer and singer is no stranger to the Academy Awards. After winning two awards in 2009 for Danny Boyle's Slumdog Millionaire.
He won the award for both Best Original Score and Best Original Song for the single Jai Ho.
