Its director Hanif Yusabra Yusuf said motorists were caught beating traffic lights and cutting queues.
“Throughout the operations, two JPJ officers were placed to monitor drones to nab those breaking traffic rules," he said, in a statement, today.
He further said those failed to obey traffic lights (119), cutting queues (71) and other traffic violations (11) were recorded.
He said the usage of drones were effective and convenient to detect traffic violations. A notice is sent to those found guilty under Section 114 of the Road Transport Act 1987.
“Other than saving manpower, the usage of drones are flexible and compact.
“It aids in helping track traffic violations of irresponsible drivers who often cause problems such as traffic jams and accidents in the festive seasons,” he said.
He said JPJ was finding ways to expand drone usage to observe the compliance of road regulations and laws by increasing the number of drones and JPJ officers trained to operate them.
He said he hopes with the usage of drones the perception of being caught (POBC) would be instilled on all drivers to stay vigilant while driving and obey the regulations se to avoid actions taken on them.
