Its Deputy Minister Datuk Mohammad Yusof Apdal said the ministry will soon gather information on the number of students involved and the kind of assistance required.
"MOHE will usually distribute aid to students or undergraduates affected by disasters including floods and we also have volunteers to help them.
"We will find out first what are their problems following the floods ... should their living conditions be uncomfortable, we will find a suitable place for them,” he told reporters after the TVET ambassador launching ceremony at Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM) here today.
Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Sulaiman Md Ali officiated the event in the presence of UTeM vice chancellor Prof Dr Massila Kamalrudin.
Meanwhile, Massila said UTeM’s Tuah Volunteer Team (TVT) comprising students and staff members would be mobilised to help the flood victims if needed.
"UTeM TVT has over 300 volunteers to help victims during the post-flood stage once approval is given by the MOHE or the authorities and the group are experts in this area," she said.
It was earlier reported that three states namely Johor, Sabah and Pahang were hit by floods following long period of continuous heavy rains. - BERNAMA
