I'm overwhelmed and overjoyed with happiness, says Michelle Yeoh on Oscar nomination
SHAH ALAM - Holloywood actress, Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh took it to social media to express happiness and gratitude to all those who were involved in the making of the 2022 American absurdist comedy-drama film Everything Everywhere All At Once (EEAAO).
Yeoh has received a best actress Oscar nomination for her role as Evelyn Wang in the sci-fi flick "Everything Everywhere All at Once", making her the first Malaysian to have received a nomination in this category.
In an Intragram post, she also thanked the directors of EEAAO, Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, for giving her the opportunity in the movie and said she would forever cherish the moment.

"Every single person who worked on this film poured their heart and soul into it, and we are all so grateful to the Academy for recognizing so many from our EEAAO family.
"Playing Evelyn Wang has been one of the great privileges of my 40 year career. It is truly the role of a lifetime," said the 60-year-old Ipoh-born actress.
The nomination announcement was made during a livestream event on Jan 24, hosted by actors Riz Ahmed and Alison Williams at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills, California.
Among the contenders for the award were Cate Blanchett (Tar), Ana De Armas (Blonde), Andrea Riseborough (To Leslie) and Michelle Williams (The Fabelmans).Everything Everywhere, All At Once took the nomination lead with 11 in total at the 95th Academy Awards, which will be held on March 12 in Los Angeles.
On Jan 20, Yeoh was also nominated for Best Actress at the Bafta Awards, Britain’s equivalent of Hollywood’s Academy Awards, and the winners will be announced on Feb 19 at a ceremony in London.
Yeoh became the first Malaysian to get the prestigious Golden Globe Award when she won Best Actress in a Motion Picture for a Musical or Comedy earlier this month.
