SEPANG - A body of a man was found floating in a former mining site near the Dengkil MCT Cybersouth project site here, today.

Sepang district police chief Assistant Commissioner Wan Kamarul Azran Wan Yusof said the victim who was clad in a T-shirt and black jeans was found by a passerby at 2.30pm.

“The witness saw the body around 300 metres away before contacting the Dengkil police station for further action,” he said in a statement, today.

Kamarul said personnel from the Dengkil Fire and Rescue Department were deployed to recover the body from the site.

“The victim is around 180 centimetres tall and has a big build. It is believed that he is a foreign citizen as he did not have a Bacillus Calmette Guerin (BCG) injection mark,” he said.

He said the victim was believed to have died three days ago based on the condition of the body that was decomposing.

“Based on checks, there was no vehicle used by the victim found around the perimeter of 10 acre of the area,” he said.

He said there was no fences at the site which has unrestricted access.

“The mining area became an attraction as people would go fishing there,” he said.

Kamarul said according to the forensics report, there was no criminal element in the victim’s death.

“The body was sent to the Serdang Hospital for an autopsy, the case is classified as a sudden death report (SDR),” he said.
