Collect Art World Gallery, Polish's first art gallery in M'sia
SHAH ALAM - Malaysia welcomes a new concept of art exchange between European and Asian countries - Poland and Malaysia - with the recent opening of the first Polish art gallery, Collect Art World in Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur.
The gallery was officiated by Poland Embassy Mission Deputy Head Dominik Malek, National Visual Arts Gallery Chairman Datuk Dayang Fatimah Tom Abang Saufi and the Collect Art World Gallery owner andart curator Monika Lauridsen last Thursday.
In a statement, it said that Collect Art World had set its mission to curate an exhibition that endorsed world peace with the participation of Polish and Malaysian artists.
“We are planning monthly exhibitions of Polish and Malay artists - which aspired to be a trendy, cultural new hang-out Art Hub place.
“It features old cultural movies in a Bohemian style garden, hosts interesting artists, talks, moderators, coaches, designers, singers and other art curators,” they added.
As art lovers took a step into the gallery, they would be greeted with a charismatic and quaint ambience - envisioned in a boutique style.
The statement further said this was to keep the warmth, cosiness and welcoming atmosphere to their visitors.
“The idea to open a Polish Art Gallery in Kuala Lumpur was born in Warsaw in 2019 at “Kawa Łyk Sztuki” (“Piece of Art”) - a famous art gallery as well as popular F&B place located in the heart of Warsaw on No. 8, Marszałkowska Street.
“It was there, during an inspiring talk with the gallery owner, an artist herself and two art curators Monika Wejcman and Monika Lauridsen, over a cup of coffee, where the idea of an art gallery came to life,” the statement read.
During the visit at the art gallery, visitors would be welcomed by the collection of selected works of Poland contemporary artists from the fine art academies.
Among the artists that honoured their arts in the gallery were Monika Wejcman, Sylwia Szafert, prof. Michał Sikora, Marta Kunikowska- Mikulska, Malgorzata Rudzka, Jacek Mirczak, and Marta Zawadzka.
On top of that, Collect Art World Gallery also provided space for visitors to spend quality time with their close ones in the gallery.
“We also own an intimate art studio, where visitors can sign up for individually custom-made art classes.
“It’s ready for teenagers and adults alike, who would like to explore the idea of painting and playing with colours, but do not have the necessary facilities at home,” they said.
