KUALA LUMPUR - A 25-year broken friendship has been restored with the 2023 Chinese New Year celebration.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim expressed gratitude to the Malaysian Chinese Association (MCA) for inviting him and Bandar Tun Razak MP and his wife Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail to the party’s Chinese New Year open house at Wisma MCA in Jalan Ampang, here, today.

“I would like to say thank you to MCA president Datuk Seri Wee Kang Siong for inviting me and Azizah.

“After 25 years, this broken friendship was mended and I’m so happy. I met many old friends, and I would like to say Gong Xi Fa Cai to everyone.

“The good thing is, we don't break our friendship despite differences in party and views from time to time,” he told reporters.

He said in the past, he was sacked by Umno, but now, the unity government will focus together to improve Malaysia’s economy.

MCA’s Chinese New Year celebration today was officiated by the Prime Minister.

Among those present at the event were Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hassan, Malaysian Indian Congress (MIC) president Datuk Seri M. Saravanan and Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
