JOHOR BAHRU - The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) is establishing a special task force in its efforts of overcoming several issues regarding the new Touch 'n Go visa payment system.

Its minister Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub said the task force would be led by the chief secretary of the ministry and the task force hopes to solve the issues with the system as soon as possible

“Yesterday (Friday) I asked the management of Touch ‘n Go to answer a few questions at the ministry regarding several complaints that were filed against the system

“The highest complaints were received during the week leading up to Chinese New Year and a majority of it involved the rebate cards and cards that could not be activated

“I asked for enforcement officers to conduct a thorough research and we have asked the management of Touch ‘n Go to make a scheduled report on where complaints can be sent, so that we can identify what the problems are based on a case to case basis ,” he said on Saturday.

On Thursday, Touch ‘n Go confirmed their new visa prepaid card that was recently launched could not be used at certain places.

This problem it seems was due to the Touch ‘n Go system not being able to combine both the Touch ‘n Go and Visa Paywave NFC functions following a glitch during the early phases of its development.

Salahuddin hoped the task force could look into the issue throughly so that the problem would not repeat itself for the upcoming festivities.

" Our next step is to be prepared for Ramadhan and Eid, we will monitor its development next week after the reports have been examined.
