SHAH ALAM - Umno Terengganu will hold a press conference tomorrow to announce their decision to file a number of election petitions for three parliamentary seats in the east coast state.

A press conference by Terengganu Umno Liaison chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Said with several lawyers will be held over the three election petitions filed by several BN candidates who contested during GE15 in Kuala Terengganu, Kemaman and also Marang, a parliamentary seat held by Pas president Tan Seri Abdul Hadi Awang.

The invitation states that the petitions are against the Perikatan Nasional (PN) candidates in the respective seats.

“All three election petitions are over allegations of rampant corruption committed by PN during GE15.”

Last year, Ahmad had accused Pas of committing corruption using money in the their campaign. He said the offence was allegedly committed after distributing aid in the form of cash to certain groups prior to the election.

According to him, the aid allocations known as i-youth, i-OKU, i-Student, i-Pension and i-Fitri were not found in the last state government budget.

The Kijal assemblyman revealed that the initial allocation for the aid was understood to be RM20 million before an additional RM30 million during the distribution of the aid, making the total amount to RM50 million.

Following that, he had instructed the Umno Youth at the state and divisional levels to lodge a report to the police, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and the Malaysian Election Commission (SPR) for further action.

The Kuala Terengganu seat is currently held by Datuk Ahmad Amzad Hashim while, the Kemaman seat is held by Che Alias Hamid, a two-term incumbent there.
