KUALA LUMPUR - Umno's top leadership was deemed to have not done enough in explaining the party's decision to be in cahoots with former political nemesis -- Pakatan Harapan (PH) -- to its grassroots, claims its Pahang delegate.

Raub division youth chief Fadzli Mohamad Kamal said that many ordinary members were still confused and bewildered by the Umno-PH cooperation that was brokered after the Malay party lost last year's 15th General Election.

"This is the challenge that Umno needs to overcome. It needs to be sincere and honest, Umno has to explain this new partnership with PH, that we're not joining PH but merely cooperating.

"If the leadership fails to do this, our grassroots will desert us," warned Fadzli when met at the party's 2022 General Assembly at Kuala Lumpur World Trade Centre (WTCKL) today.

Three days ago, Umno deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan described DAP -- a component party in PH which was Umno's default political boogeyman -- as being sincere in working together with Umno.

"We know DAP's stance, they are also aware of our position. They are not pretending to be good friends, we don't even have to pretend," said Mohamad.
