SHAH ALAM - Umno Supreme Working Council (MKT) member Datuk Mohd Puad Zarkashi denies the report of several news portals regarding the motion not to contest the president and deputy president positions was ‘booed’ by a large portion of representatives present.

The Umno permanent deputy chairman said the irresponsible actions were committed by a small quarters of delegates whom their leaders were part of those who gave their statutory declarations (SD) to Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

“Those who booed are enjoying this since one or two news portal headlines mentioned that the motion for the posts not to be contested were booed.

“Almost two-thirds of the representatives stood up for the additional motion by the Negeri Sembilan representative,” he said in a post on his Facebook on Saturday.

Puad said when it was the next speaker’s turn until the adjournment, the group decided to stay silent.

He said whatever it was, Saturday would become the deciding point for the motion suggested.

“We will see today. The motion will be voted. Don’t try to say the party is not democratic after the votes are done.

“The boos itself represented democracy even though it was uncalled for,” he said.
