Kuala Pilah Wanita Umno chief Suziyana Mahayuddin said the support trend was showing a decline up until the party suffered a devastating loss at the 15th general election (GE15).
"We won big in 2004 with 198 seats, and after that, it dropped to 148 seats and then dropped again to 133 seats.
"After that, we went down again and kept losing consecutively. We see that the trend is persistent; there are no changes.
"So Umno needs to make a paradigm shift to navigate the challenges of the new millennium. Accept the fact that times have changed," she said during the debate session on the president's policy speech in conjunction with the 2022 Umno General Assembly here at the Kuala Lumpur World Trade Centre on Friday.
Suziyana believes Umno will not see the necessary changes if the promised talks remain merely rhetorical.
"Umno will not change as long as the way we act and the way we work are still in the same paradigm and are only rhetorical.
"The reason we say it is rhetorical is because in this hall, all kinds of ideas, thoughts, and perceptions were shared, but after the closing ceremony on Saturday evening, all those things are no longer remembered," she said.
