BATU PAHAT - A world war two bomb was destroyed in a palm oil plantation at Jalan Hokien, Yong Peng, here today.

Batu Pahat District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Ismail Dollah said the UXO Aerial bomb was detonated by the Johor Police Contingent Headquarters (IPK) Bomb Disposal Unit at 11am.

“The Yong Peng police station received a call from a civilian after a bomb was found in a palm oil plantation in Kangkar Baru at 5.30pm on Wednesday.

“The bomb was placed at the side of Jalan Kota 2, Taman Kota, Yong Peng. It was then transported to a safe area in the palm oil plantation at Jalan Hokien," he said, adding that it is under the care of the police.

“The bomb was destroyed by detonation,” he said in a statement on Thursday.

He advised the public to immediately contact the police if they find an object suspected to be a bomb.

“Do not touch an object that is expected to be a bomb because it poses danger to those around it,” he said.
