KUALA LUMPUR - Umno deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan said the 15th General Election (GE15) is a dark moment that will haunt the party forever.

He said it was a humbling defeat for Umno.

"We must move on, the bitter truth is that Umno almost sunk as if it was hit by a typhoon which was terrifying.

“We lost and with it we were humbled. The defeat was an eye opener, it was mind blowing and heartbreaking,

“The election was a dark moment and it will forever haunt Umno. It will not be forgotten as long as Umno stands,” he said in his speech for the opening of the Umno Wanita, Youth and Puteri wings general assembly, here, tonight.

He said all Umno members were hit with a major rejection from the Malays towards the party.

He explained about the stance and decision taken by Umno since a few weeks ago after Umno’s fall with the disappointing election performance.

“Sincerely explaining why we did it, why our decision and principle are as such. Because all Umno members need an answer and explanation.

“Firstly, why we made such decision to join the unity government. What is the results and effect to the viability of Umno in the future.

“Secondly, how this will determine Umno’s future and how we will manage towards a new direction for the party,” he said.
