The hotel prices in Mecca and Medina are beyond our control, says minister

SHAH ALAM - The increasing hotel prices in Mecca and Medina imposed by the hoteliers are beyond our control.

Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na’im Mokhtar said the increasing hotel prices in Mecca and Media has recently become a worry among Umrah pilgrims

In a Facebook post, he said the rise in hotel rates was due to the impact of rising costs in Saudi Arabia.

“It certainly has an impact not only for Umrah pilgrims from Malaysia but also on pilgrims from all over the world.

“However, I hope that Umrah travel agencies can apply the best methods to keep packages affordable so that the overall cost increase is not so extreme that it burdens potential umrah pilgrims,” he wrote.

Naim is currently in Saudi Arabia representing the country at the 2023 Hajj and Umrah Services Conference.

He has said that he will discuss the issues that are related to Hajj and Umrah management.with the Minister in charge in Saudi Arabia

“I will highlight the the issue of this cost increase to the Minister of Hajj of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,” he added.
