KUALA LUMPUR - Former Pasir Salak MP Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman’s appeal against his six-year suspension has been rejected by the Umno Supreme Council.

Council member Isham Jalil said the decision to reject his request was due to disciplinary issues as stated by the Umno constitution.

“There was an appeal by Datuk Seri Tajuddin. He was suspended recently but his request has been rejected thus his suspension in effective today.

“This was due to disciplinary reasons as stated in the Umno constitution,” he said when asked by journalists at Menara Dato Onn, World Trade Centre on Thursday night.

Tajuddin, who was also Supreme Council member, and the Alor Star Umno Divsion Chief Datuk Mohd Yusof Ismail was previously reported to have been suspended for six years or two terms.

The decision was decided by the Umno Supreme Council on Sept 30 last year.

Tajuddin was removed as a council member on June 23 last year with the reason given by party deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan as “the President’s prerogative seeing that he was appointed and not elected”.

In other developments, Isham said the council also decided to suspend the Umno Arau division on the basis of disciplinary issues.
