Penang PN to discuss seat distribution before CNY
MOHD ISKANDAR OTHMANGEORGETOWN - Penang Perikatan Nasional (PN) will hold a meeting soon to discuss the distribution of seats for the upcoming state election (PRN).
Its chairman Datuk Dr Dominic Lau said a meeting with component parties namely Gerakan, Bersatu and Pas will be held before the Chinese New Year.
"We have already made preparations for PRN including holding discussions with other component parties for the division of the 40 State Legislative Assembly (Dun) seats that will be contested later.
"The number of seats allocated to each party is not the priority, but what is more important for PN is to field candidates who can win," he said in a press conference at the Penang Gerakan office here, today.
Also present during the press conference was Penang PN secretary Hng Chee Wey.
Asked about the target for the seats that can be won, Lau who is also Gerakan president said he had placed hope on the people as they have the rights to make the decision to choose their people’s representative.
"It is the people's rights, if the people want to give us victory... we will win everything later and vice versa.
"How many seats targeted to be won is not something that will be considered, but we will focus on all 40 seats that will be contested," he said.
Commenting further, Lau said the preparation at this stage was very important, including putting together some strategies to face any possibilities in the PRN.
He explained that it included facing a clash between two sides or more following Pakatan Harapan (PH) previously stating that it would likely cooperate with Barisan Nasional (BN) in the PRN.
