Viral texts of Covid outbreak in Kuala Pilah fake, say authorities

The Kuala Pilah District Disaster Committee chairman Mohd Faizal Abdul Manap said it did not spread.
"The WhatsApp viral message was not authentic. All close contacts were found to be asymptomatic and negative for Covid-19 and had been given health education.
"The management of the Covid-19 patient's body was done following the latest procedures, the District Health Department allowed the next of kin to manage the body of the deceased," he said when contacted by Sinar today.
He said the deceased worked in Seremban and had high blood pressure and obesity.
"There is no spread of Covid-19 cases in the specified area and we are always committed to ensuring the spread would be contained and monitored.
"Many are advised not to spread false information that could create a disturbance," he said.
Faizal further urged indivuals to take a second booster dose at any health facility near them.
On Wednesday, a messageof a Covid outbreak in Pasir Ambor and Juasseh went viral, causing public unrest with people avoiding the area.
It read: "Do not go to Pasir Ambor and Juasseh. Covid-19 has begun to spread in these areas. There was a death of a man in his 40s, he was sick for two weeks yet did not admit himself to the hospital, he had a ceremony and died the following day.
"The health ministry refused to allow family members to manage the body, fearing they would be infected by Covid-19. They had a tahlil in a mosque and the family was not allowed to attend as a precaution," the viral message said.
