KUALA LUMPUR - Umno Supreme Council Isham Jalil claims that Perikatan Nasional (PN) has puppets in Umno to create internal conflict before the state elections are held this year.

Isham said PN could be unhappy that they are not the government and may be pushing for Umno to change its president and deputy.

“There are puppets in Umno who follow their lead and may try to take our MPs from unity government to form a new government.

“That is why I do not agree with interference from other parties,” he said during an interview with Sinar Daily at Menara Datuk Onn today.

Isham also stated that he agreed with the Umno Johor deputy chairman Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed's recent statement that there is no need for the two top posts of Umno to be contested.

He said that despite all the mockery during the 15th General Election (GE15), Umno President Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and the Deputy President Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan still had good track records.

“They have a good chance to maintain their positions as president and deputy president because they were with Umno when the party lost and had nothing," Isham said.

Isham also said that solidifying Umno leadership in the new unity government is a challenge and they do not want to complicate the situation with a contest for the top two post in Umno, especially with interference from individuals outside of the party.
