KUALA LUMPUR - Umno should encourage party leaders in unity government to attend the Umno annual general assembly 2022 next week, said party's Supreme Council member Isham Jalil.

He said their attendance does not pose a problem.

“I am open to that and I do not have any problem since we are from the same government, we used to invite Pas when we were working together.

“Now if we want to invite Pakatan Harapan (PH) that should not be a problem,” Isham said during an interview with Sinar Daily at Menara Datuk Onn, today.

He also said that after the 15th General Election (GE15), the government should focus on building the economy and all the parties in the unity government should work together to achieve this.

“Umno has more experience in the country's administration as compared to other parties.

“We have the experience in creating laws and we can share it with them," he added.

The 2022 AGM was postponed from last month to Jan 13 to introduce two amendments to the party constitution.

Umno President Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi's speech will be held on Jan 13 after women, youth and Puteri wings have conducted their assemblies the day before.
