SHAH ALAM - A video displaying a list of seven attractive benefits offered by the government to the people that went viral on social media recently is fake.

This was confirmed by the Communications and Digital Minister, Fahmi Fadzil on his Facebook today.

He said since it was uploaded on TikTok, the 42-second video has received more than 1.8 million views as of 6pm.

"There is a fake news on TikTok video that has been circulating for the past 20 hours. Some even downloaded this video and spread it on other platforms like WhatsApp.

"This is one of the dangers of spreading fake news," he said.

Previously, the owner of a TikTok account with the name @saladintivi had uploaded a video titled 'Seven Good News for Malaysians 1 January 2023'.

It is understood that the video with the caption 'Thank you Papa Anwar Ibrahim' is being widely shared by netizens through various social media platforms.
