KUALA LUMPUR – PKR Deputy President Rafizi Ramli describes a statement made by Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) Datuk Wan Saiful Wan Jan that Titiwangsa MP should replace him as the Economy Minister does not affect him.

The Economy Minister said the people could distinguish between characters like Wan Saiful, who previously said he was incompetent to carry out his responsibilities as a minister.

“In terms of how the people will judge my performance, that is also clear. I have no intention or plan to make political comments to political people who make comments like Wan Saiful.

“Comparing, for example, comments from residents in Pandan to comments from Wan Saiful, I will pay more attention to the comments of residents in Pandan,” he told reporters during an event with Pandan residents earlier.

Wan Saiful had previously suggested that Titiwangsa MP Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani should replace Rafizi as Economy Minister if the latter continued to be incompetent in his duties.

He said Johari was far more authoritative and not as childish as Rafizi, who seemed to have sought political revenge.

Rafizi added if politicians were not careful, especially those who previously had the opportunity to do something but failed, they would need to answer to the people.

“For me, my work is very clear. I have a question about the economic framework and also the economic plan that needs to be implemented well.

“There are things that I will bring to the people face to face, there are things that I have to plan for long term.

“Finally, it is up to the public (to judge) and I accept it openly,” he said.

Meanwhile, when asked if PKR had received an invitation letter to attend the Umno General Assembly expected to take place in mid-January, Rafizi said that he had not yet received any response from the party headquarters regarding the matter

He explained that if PKR receives the invitation letter, it would be decided jointly at the party level.

“If you get an invitation, the process will be taken to the political bureau. The political bureau will decide. So I’m waiting for the matter to be sent officially,” he said.
