SHAH ALAM - Controversial former kickboxer and and social media influencerAndrew Tate was arrested in Romania after revealing his location with two boxes of pizza in a video he posted on Twitter.

According to media reports in the UK Tate has been accused by prosecutors of ‘recruiting, housing and exploiting women by forcing them to create pornographic content’.

The former kickboxing world champion had been detained in Romania on charges of human trafficking, rape and forming an organised crime group, according to authorities.

The reality TV star who has been banned across numerous social media platforms for misogynistic comments and hate speech was arrested with his brother and two other suspects for 24 hours, prosecutors from the anti organised-crime unit said in a statement after raiding their properties in Bucharest.

The Tate brothers duo who have been under criminal investigation since April refused to comment. However, their lawyer confirmed that they had been detained.

Tate's spokesperson was reported as saying that he could not disclose any further details on the claim by only noting that both Andrew and Tristan Tate and "have the utmost respect for the Romanian authorities and will always assist and help in any way they can."

According to a translated statement from the investigators, six women who were allegedly sexually exploited by the organised criminal group had heen identified.

The report also quoted prosecutors who said that the four suspects appeared to have created an organised crime group with the purpose of recruiting, housing and exploiting women by forcing them to create pornographic content meant to be seen on specialised websites for a cost.

Earlier on Dec 28, the American-born British 36-year-old was sarcastically clapped back by 19-year-old climate activist Greta Thunberg on Twitter when she responded to his tweet asking for her email to send her a complete list of his car collection and their respective enormous carbon emissions, writing, "Yes, please do enlighten me. email me at [email protected]."
