SHAH ALAM - Originally known as Sarawak Workers Party (SWP) and spearheaded by Datuk Larry Sng, it was later rebranded into Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM) when Datuk Seri Zuraida Kamuruddin and Penggerak Komuniti Negara members agreed to joined.

Its deputy secretary-general Zaihan Zainal revealed that strategic negotiations started on Dec 21, 2021, and soon after members joined PBM on Jan 8 this year.

He said Zuraida, however, would not join in bulk as the other as a means of “political strategy” following Sng’s promises once she officially joins the party.

He said as previously agreed, Sng will be elected as president and will choose the supreme council members and appointments of main posts.

“The president announced that the supreme council had approved Zuraida’s application to join PBM and was appointed as the party’s ‘President Designate’ until her appointment as the President was carried out through the Annual General Conference,” he said.

Zaihan, who is also the Johor state leadership council vice chairman, said Sng had gone against his own words numerous times.

Despite Sng being the founder of the party, he claimed that many leaders did not put their trust in Sng as the president from the start.

“Nevertheless, Zuraida was pleased and give way for him to be the president prior to her admission,” said Zaihan in the statement.
