SHAH ALAM - Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM) disciplinary committee today terminates former Plantation Industries and Commodities minister Datuk Zuraida Kamaruddin’s membership status after she failed to respond to a show-cause letter in time.

In a statement, the party stated that besides Zuraida, other big names terminated from their positions in PBM included the party’s deputy president Haniza Mohamed Talha, secretary-general Nor Hizwan Ahmad and information chief Zakaria Abdul Hamid.

Haniza Talha and Daroyah Alwi, on the other hand, lost their position as the party’s vice president and head of the women’s group, respectively, but remained as PBM members.

No explanation was given why Haniza and Daroyah remained as party members.

The other PBM supreme council members terminated from the party membership were Rahimad Majid, Dr Satishkumar Govindaraju, Muhammad Saiful Bahari Sahari, Na’im Brundage, Abdul Aziz Abdul Kadir, Zakaria Abdul Rahim, Datuk Roger Tan Seng Huat and Albakri Salim.

“The PBM disciplinary committee members held further discussions on Dec 27 and in accordance with the PBM constitution, following the show-cause letter distributed to 13 individuals last Dec 19 where they were given the opportunity to explain and defend themselves and were given seven days, but had failed to provide feedback to the PBM party disciplinary committee.

“In the interests of the PBM party, the disciplinary committee had decided that the individual’s membership position will be terminated immediately on Dec 27, 2022 (today),” the statement read.

The 15 individuals were suspended initially but the suspension was lifted on two members following a meeting on Dec 17 and they have been reinstated to their party positions.

Yesterday, Zuraida criticised PBM president Datuk Larry Sng, who she alleged had disclosed the party’s confidential matters on social media with statements that damaged the image of PBM and raised concerns among party members.

The former Ampang MP also called out Sng for being immature and failed to think rationally in managing the party.

She also said the PBM grassroots disagreed with several of Sng’s “shallow” ways of exposing the party secrets on social media platforms and publishing conflicting statements that damaged PBM.

This follows after Sng reportedly sent show-cause letters to Zuraida and several other supreme council members after they failed to show up for a supreme council meeting last week.
