10 flash floods this year, it's enough, Kinta Valley residents lament

BATU GAJAH - Flood victims in Kinta Valley here are up in arms over recurring flash floods.

Resident representative Hoi Kam Fook, 60 said drain behind his residential area are clogged, broken with no proper water flow during heavy rain.

"This year alone we have had over 10 flash floods in our residential area. We have submitted complaints on the matter but there is still no solution," he told Sinar when met at Kinta Valley, here.

Hoi said many residents in the area have stayed for 40 years and faced frequent floods for the past 20 years.

He explained residents no longer know who to submit their complaints to anymore.

Tualang Sekah Assemblyman Mohd Azlan Helmi when met during his visit to the area said he had received confirmation from the Rural Development office and the Irrigation and Drainage Department (JPS) over the floods.

"We will meet the authorities involved in solving the issue. Since its an on-going issues for so many years, we will think of best measures to solve it," the Perak exco said.
