Ipoh tahfiz school invaded, principal beaten

IPOH - A famous preacher and tahfiz school principal at Kampung Sri Kinta here was beaten and sustained several injuries on Sunday.

The incident was reported to have taken place after the victim met a teen's next of kin believed to have broken into the tahfiz school.

The Perak Maahad Tahfiz Al-Quran Association (Pematap) chairman Datuk Mohd Azlan Suhaimi said he was looking into the break in.

"We have come to understand a police report was made regarding the incident and a medical report was issued on the injuries sustained by the victim," he said in a statement on Pematap's Facebook on Monday.

He said the tahfiz school was broken into by several individuals to play football on Sunday, adding that it may not be the first break in.

He said the victim visited the home of the suspect to advice and reprimand before being berated, attacked, punched and shoved, causing injuries on the principal.

Azlan hoped for the authorities would take appropriate action to avoid such untoward incidents in the future.
