Parking Lot Mishap: Two injured after car plunges to second floor
KOTA KINABALU - Two friends faced anxious moments when the vehicle they were in plunged from the third floor to the second floor of the parking lot at the Asia City complex shopping centre here on Sunday.
The two friends - Chong Soon Chean, 24, and Juliana Abd Wari, 30, suffered minor injuries during the 10.30am incident.
Kota Kinabalu Fire and Rescue Station Chief Ordine Gilu said he received a distress call at 10.56am.
He said a total of 13 officers went to the scene, 4km away from Kota Kinabalu station.
“Based on the report, a Toyota Vios had crashed on the third floor of the parking lot and hit the wall before plunging into the second floor of the building.
"There were two victims, a man and a woman involved in the incident and suffered minor injuries. They managed to get out of the vehicle on their own," he said when contacted.
He said the Fire and Rescue personnel then proceeded to carry out an inspection to ensure there were no other dangers in the area.
"The injured victims were sent to the hospital by ambulance.
"The team also installed barriers at the scene of the incident before the operation ended at 11.59am," he said.
