SHAH ALAM - Kuala Lumpur surpassed other well-known tourist locations globally coming in second place as the world's top trending destinations in Q3 according to Airbnb.

Airbnb’s General Manager for Southeast Asia, India, Hong Kong and Taiwan Amanpreet Bajaj said the reopening of more countries this year has unlocked pent-up demand from international travellers eager to reconnect with loved ones or visit their favourite destinations once more.

“It’s incredibly heartening to see that Malaysia - with its variety offerings from breathtaking nature, rich culture and delicious cuisines - is on top of the international traveller’s list as the industry bounces back post-pandemic,” he said.

Domestically, he said Ipoh took a top spot as Malaysians’ number one most popular destination on Airbnb in Q3, followed by Kuching, Kuala Lumpur, Kota Kinabalu and Genting Highlands.
