DUNGUN: A man refuses to move to the temporary evacuation centre (PPS) and risks his life staying at home affected by the flood as he does not want to leave his cats behind.

Muhammad Junaidi Ismail said he was worried about the safety of the nine cats if they were left without supervision.

The floodwater level at his house in Kampung Pinang Merah, Dungun, had risen, but he said it was hard for him to evacuate, especially since he could not take the felines with him to the PPS.

“I am worried that the cats would be swept away by the current if they were left at home.

"Now there are nine left, yesterday one died under the house.

"We are afraid to go down because of the strong current yesterday, the water level rose up to our foreheads," he said.

Junaidi said this year’s flood was one of the worst since he lived in the area. - AWANI
