Senior citizen's floating house withstood floods in Terengganu

SHAH ALAM - A visionary man's effort, which was once ridiculed, yielded success when his house withstood the recent floods.

A Bakar Che Ahmad had built a floating house after his house in Tebak, Air Putih, Kemaman, Terengganu was affected by floods in the past.

The joy and success of A Bakar's floating house were shared through his son's TikTok account.

The 67-year-old man was previously qouted as saying that his house could float up to five-metres high if the floods were to hit.

He had taken into account the speed of the flood current and other factors while constructing the house.

The house was also tied to two poles and used 69 plastic bins to support it during floods. His seven children have helped with the construction of the house.

The house was estimated to cost RM47,000 to build.
